Sei $ x$ Koordinatenvektor des Punktes $ X\in{\mathbb{R}}^n$ bzgl. des Standardkoordinatensystems $ \{0,e_1,\dots,e_n\}$ mit $ e_i=(0,\dots,0,\underbrace{1}_{\mbox{$i$-te Stelle}},0,\dots,0)$. Sei $ x'$ der Koordinatenvektor von $ X$ bzgl. eines Koordinatensystems $ K=\{P,b_1,\dots,b_n\}$. $ p$ sei der Ortsvektor von $ P$ und $ B$ sei die Matrix, die sich spaltenweise aus den Vektoren $ b_1,\dots,b_n$ zusammensetzt, d.h. $ B=(b_1,\dots,b_n)$. Dann gilt für die Kooordinatentransformationen $ x \mapsto x'$ bzw. $ x' \mapsto x$:
