Eine lineare Differentialgleichung erster Ordnung hat die Form

$\displaystyle y^\prime = p y + q
$

mit der allgemeinen Lösung

$\displaystyle y = y_p + y_h\,.
$

Dabei ist $ y_p$ eine partikuläre (oder spezielle) Lösung und $ y_h$ die allgemeine Lösung der homogenen Differentialgleichung ($ q(x)=0$).

Bezeichnet

$\displaystyle P(x) = \int\limits_{x_0}^x p(s)\,ds
$

eine Stammfunktion von $ p$, so gilt

$\displaystyle y_h = c \exp(P(x))
$

und

$\displaystyle y_p = \int\limits_{x_0}^x \exp(P(x)-P(s))q(s)\,ds\,,
$

ist eine partikuläre Lösung mit $ y_p(x_0) = 0$.

Für die Anfangsbedingung $ y(x_0)=y_0$ ist

$\displaystyle c = y_0\,,
$

da $ y_p(x_0) = 0$ und $ y_h(x_0)=c$.
